Rippling has been supporting Canadian companies since 2022.

As the first truly all-in-one workforce platform that helps employees get more done, Rippling offers access to over two dozen products across payroll, HRIS, IT, and more that support your Canadian and global employees. Simply put, Rippling gives you a single system to run everything you need to hire, pay, and manage your team.

A few milestones from our first year supporting Canadian businesses:

  • We’re saving Canadian companies across all provinces, like MedEssist and Vambora, hundreds of hours of manual admin work using Rippling.
  • We have 60+ Rippling Canada HQ employees and growing, supported by our global team of 2800+ employees.
  • We’re listed by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as an official third-party service provider

We use Rippling to power our employee payroll and HRIS all in one place. No other HRIS in Canada compares to the speed at which we can onboard team members and the peace of mind of having things done.

The HR challenge in Canada today

While the Canadian economy is starting to rebound, Canadian companies are still facing pressure to do more with less. With decreased productivity and rising labour costs,  companies need to be strategic and find ways to automate repetitive work.

HR teams, especially, have mountains of administrative and manual tasks. From complying with changing payroll tax laws, to onboarding and offboarding employees, to managing time and attendance, recruiting, and expense management, the manual busywork can pile up—and so can risky errors.

Today, most businesses in Canada have two options for HR support:

  • Legacy systems
  • Small business SaaS solutions, built without the advanced functionality and customization modern businesses need

Legacy systems are rigid and disconnected. They may be established, but they’re inflexible—they have siloed data, cause errors, require endless hours with support, and make it nearly impossible to report on your data. Legacy systems also have a history of acquiring new technologies and patching them together to sell to customers as an "all-in-one" solution.

A collection of disconnected systems

The end result for Canadian businesses using “all-in-ones” is a collection of disconnected systems rather than a united solution. Without employee data across all payroll, HRIS, IT, and spend in one place, you need to piece together accurate information across systems to manage your workforce.

You’re logging into separate tools every time you want to run payroll, change permissions for an employee, or update employee information like a move to a new province.

As you experience growth, you may want to hire an employee or bring on a contractor abroad. This means finding an entirely different payroll or HR provider to support this, adding yet another system to manage and another policy to track and adhere to.

With all of your employee data siloed across separate systems, it can feel impossible to run a report or access the workforce insights you need to drive your business forward. The state of HR and payroll tools in Canada today is that they are rigid, error-prone, and incredibly slow—for both employers and employees.

With technology advancing in so many other fields, how have payroll and HR in Canada stayed so stagnant?

Canada’s first payroll system that runs itself

Across all Canadian provinces (including Québec), Rippling Payroll centralizes everything that touches payroll, including deductions, time tracking, benefits, pension, and leave. That means all of your employee data, like salary changes, hours worked, tax deductions, Group RRSP contributions, leave, and more automatically sync with payroll for a seamless experience. We also automatically support remittances for CRA and Revenue Québec. This eliminates the all too familiar last-minute panic to check if paycheques are accurate before each pay run.

One-click payroll in 90 seconds

When it’s time to run payroll, you can review all of your payroll inputs in a matter of minutes, then simply click Run payroll. Rippling automatically manages things like your CPP and QPP contributions, Employment Insurance premiums, employment health tax, and workers’ comp. We also automatically calculate and file T4s and create journal entries into the general ledger.

Stay compliant at home and abroad

In addition to automatically calculating deductions, contributions, mandatory benefits, and leave, we also help you comply with local laws. Our automation workflows can help ensure your employees complete mandatory trainings to comply with local labour laws, health and safety standards, and Canada labour code

If you operate internationally, Rippling supports payroll, compliance, and everything else you need to hire employees or contractors abroad.

In other words, all you need to do is review and approve payroll, and Rippling handles the rest.

Beyond payroll: Everything you need to run your workforce in one place

According to a TechValidate survey, companies spend more than 60% of their time on admin work and less than 40% on strategic work.

At Rippling, we’ve natively built every application you need to run your workforce, with employee data at the center. Rippling eliminates the need to stitch together dozens of point solutions. Instead, you have one modern solution that syncs seamlessly. Rippling is the first truly all-in-one workforce platform that actually works.

Payroll: Pay employees at home in Canada and abroad in one click with Rippling’s 90-second payroll processing.

HRIS: Rippling HRIS is the source of truth for all your employee data. Manage and automate every step of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to transitions to offboarding. You no longer need to punch in sensitive employee data during onboarding, update bank account details when they change, or manage leave requests and balances manually. Employees can self-serve, too, from their computer or mobile app.

Workflow automation: Rippling’s custom workflows enable companies to automate nearly any manual HR, IT, or Finance process across multiple systems at once, with just a few clicks. No code required.

IT: Rippling IT enables you to manage your employees’ identity, access, devices, data, security, and more in one unified system. Rippling’s natively built IT products are powered by the same source of truth as our HRIS, so data stays in sync in real time without manual reconciliation. Leverage that data to automate IT tasks across the entire employee lifecycle, strengthen your company’s security posture, and implement compliance standards—in just a few clicks. And, with 500+ pre-built integrations in the Rippling app store like WealthSimple for Group RRSPs, Slack, Asana, Quickbooks, and more, you can ensure employees always have the right access to the right tools at the right time, without investing in developer resources.

Reporting: When you manage your entire workforce in one system with Rippling, reporting becomes a breeze. You can report on every piece of employee data—salary, equity, expenses, survey results, app access, device security, recruitment, and thousands of other data points—in a single system. If you have employees outside of Canada, Rippling even converts currencies inside of reports. No manual number crunching.

Time tracking: Rippling Time & Attendance syncs seamlessly with Rippling Payroll, so you never have to track or enter hours outside of your HRIS.

Policy management: Rippling empowers you to design policies that you can apply company-wide or to groups of employees in specific locations. For example, you can design a custom leave policy that gives all employees an additional paid vacation day on their birthday.

Compliance: We’ve built compliance rules into every product throughout Rippling to help you protect your business. For example, we’ll alert you when an employee’s compensation appears to be below minimum wage or assigned a non-compliant leave policy.

Expense management: Rippling lets you build reimbursement policies based on employee data. As a result, it can automatically approve, block, and flag expenses faster than other systems. You can also drill down into reimbursement requests directly in payroll. This lets you quickly answer the question of why someone spent $500 without having to personally put them on the spot.

Inventory and Device Management: Easily manage employee devices end to end. With Rippling, you can remotely order, configure, and warehouse employees’ computers and devices and set up laptops for new employees in just a few clicks.

Robust app shop: Rippling can seamlessly integrate with over 500 third-party apps available in our app shop. That means your data from those apps flows into Rippling, keeping all employee data in one centralized place. You can easily grant and remove permissions and access to sub-groups of employees.

Global payroll: If you have employees or contractors outside of Canada, you can use Rippling to manage them, too. You can use Rippling for your international entity or you can hire workers through our EOR. Everything in Rippling—from onboarding and offboarding to compliance rules and policies—is automatically localized based on each employee’s location. That means you’ll never have to use siloed HR systems again.

In the short time we’ve been with Rippling, we’ve already seen and benefited from multiple new product releases, integrations, and increased employee satisfaction. More importantly though, Rippling has been able to grow alongside our growth goals.
